World of Warcraft: Forever Reshapes Classic Azeroth
Blizzard has shared details about World of Warcraft: Forever, which will preserve the foundations of classic Azeroth while adding new zones, quests, dungeons, raids, and modern accessibility options.

A new beginning for classic Azeroth

Blizzard has revealed the details of World of Warcraft: Forever, a project that combines the sense of exploration and community from the early years of World of Warcraft with new content. Forever will not replace modern World of Warcraft or WoW Classic. According to Blizzard, it will be developed as a permanent third World of Warcraft experience alongside those two versions.

The story takes place after Warcraft III Reforged: Forsaken Kingdom and before Molten Core. Players will return to the Eastern Kingdoms and Kalimdor, progress through levels 1–60, and begin new adventures in parts of the classic world that were previously unfinished or inaccessible. Blizzard emphasizes that leveling will remain an important part of the experience rather than simply an obstacle on the way to endgame activities.

New zones, quests, and group content

World of Warcraft: Forever will add more than 1,000 new quests to the classic continents. The announced locations include Mount Hyjal, Shen’dralas, Riverglades, and Zephras Isle. Riverglades is planned to feature more than 150 quests, primarily for characters progressing through the mid-level range. Zephras Isle will host a new starting experience covering levels 1–12.

Zephras Isle will also introduce the new playable Skyborne race. Skyborne characters will be able to join either the Horde or the Alliance. Horde-aligned characters will have access to the Shaman class, while Alliance-aligned characters will be able to become Mages. Both factions will also support Warriors, Hunters, Rogues, and Druids. Blizzard is preparing unique Druid forms, racial abilities, voices, animations, and customization options for the Skyborne.

Nine new dungeons have been announced. These include the Hall of Thanes beneath Ironforge, the Ruins of Lordaeron, the City of Dalaran, Blackmaw Hold, the Drowned City, and Alcaz Prison. Hyjal Summit and the Barrow Deeps are being developed for raid players. Barrow Deeps is planned as a 10-player challenge, while Hyjal Summit will feature 20-player raid encounters. For PvP, the Darkspear Islands will become a new 15-versus-15 battleground.

Classic design with modern convenience

Forever aims to preserve the social and exploration-driven structure of the original game. Blizzard says there will be no flying mounts or level scaling. Preparation, communication, forming groups, and gradually exploring the world will remain important.

Several modern options will still be available. Players will be able to enable or disable transmog appearances, choose between classic and modern visual settings, and use official controller support. The new Legacy progression system will provide additional goals, especially for players developing multiple characters. The Camping system will allow players to place campfires in the open world, contribute through professions, and share temporary buffs with other adventurers.

For players, the most noticeable change may be that meaningful progression will not be limited to max-level activities. New quests, profession contributions, camps, and temporary cooperation in the world are designed to make the leveling journey social again. Newcomers will benefit from clearer options, while experienced players will find new routes and group challenges built around classic rules.

Release date and access details

According to Blizzard’s official announcement, World of Warcraft: Forever will launch globally on November 4, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. PST. This corresponds to November 5 at 2:00 a.m. in Türkiye. Access will be included with an active World of Warcraft subscription or game time. The beta begins on September 17, 2026, although early beta access is tied to specific pre-purchase packages.

Optional packages include the Skyborne Heroic Pack, Skyborne Epic Pack, and the limited-time Warcraft Forever Collection. The Epic Pack and Collection include beta access, while the Collection also contains Warcraft III: Reforged and the Forsaken Kingdom campaign. The first new raid content is scheduled to unlock on December 9, 2026.

Conclusion

World of Warcraft: Forever is designed to expand classic Azeroth rather than simply recreate it. The absence of flying mounts and level scaling should preserve the original pace of exploration, while controller support, optional transmog, and visual choices may make the experience accessible to a broader audience. Package contents, beta conditions, and regional access details may change before launch, so players should check the official Battle.net page before making a purchase.
